Queensway Bay, Long Beach, California –
The City of Long Beach took a decision to upgrade the Boardwalk around the Aquarium, Marinas and Restaurant facilities. They elected to use a variety of brown and gray colored clay bricks manufactured in the Mid West and installed them in a runner bond along the new sea wall in such a way as to simulate the effect of the lines of teak decking formerly used on the old clipper ships. They also used a unique system of concrete pavers installed in a traditional ashlar pattern for the larger general paved areas. The design team specified our joint stabilizing sealer to deal with the issue of potential joint sand loss that they anticipated would be experienced during the aggressive daily cleaning that the City would have to undertake. The end result was a showpiece installation that continues to perform with minimal maintenance.
